Overview
The Dell™ Remote Access Card DRAC5 is a systems management hardware and software solutions designed to provide remote management capabilities for Dell PowerEdge™ systems. The DRAC5 card manages your servers remotely from anywhere in the world over an IP connection. The virtual media lets you install software from anywhere in encrypted form. The OS-independent continuous video console has last screen capture and watches your server reboot. This feature allows you to monitor status of remote server even during a reboot. It also features Active Directory authentication and authorization for enhanced security. It’s independently powered - restart a cold server and power off a server remotely. So you can reboot a down server from home. There's provision for a Daughtercard so it does not take up a PCI slot which is critical for rack-dense servers.
