Broadcom technology is designed as a cost-point replacement to standard Gigabit Ethernet implementations enabling the adoption of TOE, iSCSI and RDMA as a baseline function for blade, high-density rack and tower server LAN-on-motherboard (LOM) applications, as well as for standalone high-performance network adapters. This enables servers to perform multiple functions simultaneously including storage networking, high-performance clustering, and 'always on' remote management.It reduces CPU utilization to less than 20% by offloading the protocol processing from the CPU to the on-chip offload engines.
