Quite nice system, hate the keyboard and trackpad

Product Uses:
surf web, write documents, software development, run business applications, Travel

Review:
I ordered the laptop mid March, told that it will arrive in 10 working days, after checking it was suppose to be 11 days. 1 day before delivery i was told that there was delay. (checking the order status, the status hasn't changed since day 4). it ended up arriving after 15 working days. (feels like forever with long weekend).

Just got it today. The cherry color looks nice, 13" is pretty decent. I just like the external look except the VGA port on the left handside. Test keyboard, it's pretty wobbly and a bit annoying even though typing on it is fine. The trackpad is hard to use since it doesn't always point to the right direction and not responsive enough. Windows 7 is good and fast, pity I forgot to pick the Core 2 Processor otherwise I can use virtualisation. Testing the weight, it is quite light even though not the lightest.

If only they have the Vostro 3300 in red color when I ordered it. Other than that it seems like a good solid system.

Zino HD

Product Uses:
family entertainment, streaming, photo video & music collection, surfing, homework, sky player

Review:
I have just bought a top of the range Zino HD to replace my 10 year old Dell Dimension 8200, what a difference time makes and what a delight to use.
I recently turned our Dining Room (only ever used at Christmas time) into a Family games /media room.
The Zino HD is hooked up to a new Panasonic 50” Plasma and a new Panasonic Blu-Ray Home Cinema system and a Wi console. The windows Media Centre seems to be sorted now compared with earlier versions and very easy to use, we have also subscribed to the Sky player for fun.
I would recommend the Zino HD to anyone who doesn’t want a Tea Box next to the telly and forget the overpriced Apple equivalents.
We are also proud owners of 2 Inspiron Laptops and 1 Studio Laptop and couldn’t go past Dell.
By the way, we are normal people and not Computer Geek’s.
The only quirk I have with the Zino is:-
Why did they not fit an optical output?
The HDMI output does not give a sound output to the TV. I have had to run a separate phono output / twin channel input cable from the Zino to the Home Cinema System. But apart from that, it’s great.

Computer: Alienware Aurora Alx

you get what you pay for

Product Uses:
Gaming, vmware, daily surfing/emails, workstation

Review:
Im an IT, lifehacker, techy type of person. Ived built and assembled lots of gaming computers. ived tried alot of mobos, vidcards etc etc. In other words, im an enthusiast too.

After all the desktops ived been through. this is far the best ived ever had. from all sorts of pc cases such as the lian li, corsair, silverstone etc. this alx is uncomparable. the gills may not mean anything to most of the endusers, but the gills is actually made for giving more air on the internals. the cpu cooler gets the air fron the inside, not outside and blow hot air out at the back from the radiator. imagine if you have your typical sidepanel case open, you get a better temperature right? same applies as the vents on top of it. also worth mentioning is that this thing has raid controllers but arent good for ssd raids. its only good for hdds or non performance ssds, in my case i used 2 nova ssd's and the raid controller cant take it. but i can live with one ssd anyway since raiding ssd's is overkill already.

the feeling im getting on owning this desktop is really great. i can set the mood via alienfx lights anyway i want. blue seems to set the mood btw. by looking at this case, i want to microcenter and bestbuy and checked out the other cases, i was actually excited at the corsair 650d. when i got to the store, i saw some other cases such as the silverstone raven etc etc. after seeing all the aftermarket case, i appreciate how nice sleek and quality wise my aurora alx is. i felt the genuinity of this system. you really get what you pay for. whatever happens, other case will always be another case and alienware will always be an alienware.

the best thing to do is get the based model, upgrade them your self. i upgraded mine from 6gb to 24gb, win7 home to ultimate, added flash reader myself, wlan, nvidia 295 to 6970 and so on. i sold the stock parts and in the end, its like building your own rig and buying an alienware case for like $350 which is well worthit since you get warranty too.

pros- your case will always be better than others whatever they say about it. alienfx lights. active vents. sturdy case and well build and good quality (i dont know why people who havent seen an alienware keeps on saying its cheap plastic, if only i can bang this plastic on their head so that theyll know how hard it is)
expandablity is like a custom pc

cons- raid controller is not good for performance ssds.
you need an icydock adapter to fit an ssd.
no window on the case
heavy but its not a laptop anyway
gills needs command center software installed
no driver cd? had to look at dell website

AMD+ATI+DELL a great combination

Product Uses:
Gaming, surfing, study

Review:
i've never used amd processors before.i thought that only intel is the best.so when i thought of buying a laptop i was sure to buy intel's i7 or maybe i5.but than i came across amd's processors.especially i was fascinated by this amd quad core phenom n930,because of its reasonable price compare to other mobile quad core processors in market.the graphic card is also very good.i can play games like nfs hot pursuit 2010,splinter cell conviction, battle field bad company 2...etc (though scc lags slightly sometimes.but it doesn't bother me) on very good fps.and for other multimedia software it works like a charm. so i m fully satisfied with my laptop.

Average laptop with below-average monitor

Product Uses:
emails and web surfing

Review:
I have had Dell desktop and laptops for years. Last laptop was an Inspiron 1501 purchased in USA. This new Inspiron M501R purchased in Hong Kong.

In general, the laptop is very average, which you should expect for the lower price.

But the unexpected bad experience is mostly from the monitor. The specs say: "15.6" (39.6cm) Widescreen HD WLED Glossy Display with TrueLife™ (1366x768)". But the images and text are really bad. Even by simply placing next to the 4-year old Dell Inspiron 1501. It's shocking how low-quality the Inspiron M501R screen is.

Review:
We have purchased computers, printers, cameras, ink, etc. from Dell since 2005. We do not even consider going to someone else when a purchase needs to be made or upgrade wanted on what we have. If I won the 1,000.00 Visa Gift Certificate the first thing we would do is upgrade our latest laptop. 2nd would be investing in a desktop for my husband as he's is several years old, apprx 4 and is outdated. I would so love the opportunity to purchase them & thank ya'll so very much for always tending to our needs in an expedient, courteous & professional manner.

Review:
I was looking for a good computer for gaming and I found the best gaming computer ever made. It is more powerful than I could have ever hoped for. The processor speed is just out of this world, the ram is more than needed to be competitive in gaming and the design is so cool words just can't express it properly. The nicest thing is that as powerful as it is it can be upgraded to be even more powerful. as the complexity of games change the Alienware Aurora's designed to be upgraded to keep up with or even out pace the games themselves.

This is my third and undoubtedly worst Dell computer, my other 2 laptops are great but this 2310 is terrible. I now have it some 10 months and am on my third hard-drive, it is still constantly freezing, locking up and shutting down unexpectedly.
Very unreliable and not recommended.

Something Special

Gaming, web surfing, homework, Video Editing

Review:
This computer is special. It really lives up to the hype and beats out the competition. All the PC gamers who say go to origin are telling you really to spend even more money at a company that does not have the ability to send someone out to fix your PC if something goes wrong. Even if you get this computer with the lowest specs it still can handle everything thrown at it. The liquid cooling keeps everything quiet and running really cool. I played The Old Republic for five hours non stop and my computer had not even warmed up. Also I was running it on Max settings. If in the future you need a boost you can always upgrade the graphics card. I love my Alienware Aurora and honestly I know I am well taken care of with this computer. Do yourself a favor and get one if you are really serious about gaming.

I got this for my husband because he only surfs the web and does e-mail and that's the extent of his computer knowledge. I was a little skeptical about onboard video and audio, but for his needs, its more than adequate. I thought about adding a video card, but after seeing the picture quality, decided it was not necessary. He's happy and I'm happy!! Good purchase.

Review:
I had this PC for a few years and I was shocked to see that this computer is no longer available. This is the best computer I ever owned. Within the first month there were a few glitches like the sound would go out or not work at all. Then Explorer stopped working all together. Not IE, Explorer in Windows. But that wasn't the actual PC, just the OS. After fixing it myself it all ran beautifully. I can run, Maya, WoW, Firefox, Corel, Media player and god knows what else. Last gaming Dell I owned was an XPS gen 3. God forbid I wanted to look up something in firefox and play wow at the same time. That poor thing ran till it's last dying breath. Now I run two monitors (had a spare sitting around) and I love it every second. I only wish the bay door was motorized. I plan to keep this beast forever. Obviously upgrade the parts when necessary. Since I got the (somewhat) base version and not the ALX, I plan to tick this baby out (i.e. motorized bay door). I love how customizable it is. And as an Artist, I love (LOVE) the color choices. No matter what I threw at it, it took it all in stride and with a yawn. I wish Alienware didn't stop making this PC, it truly is (in my opinion) the best PC you can get.
